Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur

I'm very delighted that I have stayed at Hotel Istana at a very short notice. The staff and in particular, management were extremely friendly and very accommodating. I would not hesitate to STONGLY recommend Hotel Istana to anyone who is going to Kuala Lumpur, specially it's very close proximity to the golden triangle.

I trust that you will have the best time, as well as good value for money. Just speak to Rooben there, and rest assurred you'll be looked after.

The hotel is a very nice 5 star hotel. All service is good and rate is reasonable. The service is good. The size of room is almost twice big than other 5 star hotel. The bathroom and shower are seperated and the sizes are huge. Lundary service is efficient. The rate is quite reasonable. Breakfast has very good selection. You can pretty much have everything you expected. In general, this is good hotel.

Good Hotel, Good Location
This is my second time to KL but since I was with children and its their first time, I thought I must book a cozy and classy hotel for them to appreciate the trip. And since I am used to travelling abroad I don't usually stay on a five star hotel for the simple and practical reason that I won't be able to enjoy the hotel room anyway as I will be out most of the time. But since the hotel offered a very nice price plus it was within the Bukit area I grabbed the opportunity. And I was'nt wrong! the place was nice, with good natured staff. I will definitely recommend the hotel to my friends and if ever I have to come back to KL, I will come back to Hotel Istana again!

The hotel feels very luxurious, with beautifully appointed large bedrooms, soft sheets on large, comfortable beds and great roomy bathroom with shower and separate bath. The hotel lobby is decorated in a moroccan theme and has a bar where live music is played every evening. The staff were very friendly and professional. The hotel is ideally located near lots of restaurants and bars and shopping at bukit bintang and next to the monorail station of raja chulan. Five-star service for very good value indeed. We would definitely stay again the next time we are in town.

This was an excellent value for money hotel! the rooms were lovely (including the bathrooms) and rather clean and the room service was just superb! with very reasonable prices. buffet breakfast restaurant was great at all times. will return.

I booked another 3 days on the Istana web site taking advantage of a special 'Senior Citizens' rate, again in a Club Room, which gave us a better room, breakfast in the Club (which we took there and it was excellent, unharried and unhurried), soft drinks/coffee throughout the day, free wi-fi in the Club or by cable in your room, aperitifs (spirits/mixers, beers or wines) and "nibbles" which were varied and always delicious and substantial enough that on several occasions we didn't need dinner afterwards.

The pool was very good and well attended. The public rooms were lovely and well furnished and the hotel is obviously well favoured for functions. When "nosying" at "An Evening in India" charity event in the ballroom we were vary fortunate and privileged to be invited inside to take better photos by the event organiser and given a place on his table, just two tables away from the Guest of Honour, HRH the Queen of Malaysia, no less!


We have no hesitation in recommending the Istana as it was excellent value for money and ideally located for shopping or dining or sight-seeing and overall rated it higher than the much more expensive Imperial. We hope to return next year after our next Winter away in Thailand.

The staff on the Club were extremely friendly and attentive and helped relieve any anxiety we had due to our enforced stay. I had no hesitation in extending it until we finally secured a return flight, exactly one week later than anticipated.

Stayed here with my Mother & this is a fantastic hotel. We had a view of the towers from our very nice room & I had payed a little extra for the Club Room access which was sensational......definately worth it !! The location couldn't have been any better just around the corner from Bintang Walk , very central.

From the friendly greeting as we walked into the lobby our stay in the Istana was a delight. The staff were attentive, but not overly so, friendly, and extremely helpful. Only stayed for three nights and breakfasted elsewhere but the room was pleasant and clean, as was the bathroom. Everything worked.


We ate in on one night only and seeking local food went to the buffet restaurant. Again the staff were top notch and the food was pretty good but I think that you can do much better and cheaper outside of the hotel. The selection of dishes was mind boggling, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Sushi, Salads, you could eat until your head burst. No beer though, or wine, Followed dinner with a beer in the lounge, which was a bit pricy but very welcome, and enjoyed the cabaret.
